Smithsonian Brochures

A personal project done as a study and exercise for graphic translations. This exercise informs my creative process for brand identity, starting with Indian Ink for quick, abstract sketches and finalizing the marks as high fidelity designs. The completed project features three fictitious informational brochures for the Smithsonian Institute.

Initial Sketches

After researching images of seashells, quick 5–10 minute sketches of seashell were made. The purpose was to start abstracting the seashell.

Simplifying The Shapes

After more sketching and refining, the seashells were narrowed down and brought into Illustrator in order to refine the shapes even more.

Final Designs

After stripping the marks of detail, a brush appearance was added to help fit the theme of the brochures.
